Here are some types of books that can be published with UPH Press, namely: Textbooks, Reference Books and Monograph BooksPlease note that monographs or reference books taken from dissertations or theses cannot be assessed for academic / rank promotion (PAK 2019). Learn the differences and characteristics of these types of books below.

Textbook or printed books are an important part of the learning process, helping communication between teachers and students. They are written for specific instructional purposes and equipped with teaching tools. Standards for textbooks are set by the National Education Standards Agency (BSNP). The following are the characteristics of textbooks:

    1. Organized with a logical flow in accordance with the lesson plan
    2. Packaged as simple as possible and has interesting illustrations
    3. Has a clear point of view
    4. Relevant according to the curriculum and is standardized by paying attention to regional taboo idioms
    5. Based on a flexible and structured learning structure.
    6. In accordance with UNESCO and the Directorate General of Higher Education regulations, a maximum paper size of A4 and the minimum is A5
    7. Thickness of at least 50 pages
    8. Has an ISBN
    9. Does not deviate from Pancasila and the UUD 1945.

Reference books are scientific writings focused on one field of science, organized according to the logic of the field. The content must meet the requirements of a complete scientific work, including formulation of problems, problem solving methodology, support for latest data, and conclusions (PAK 2019). The following are the characteristics of Reference Book:

    1. The content of the book is in accordance with the author’s scientific field.
    2. The content (e.g. case studies and illustrations) is in accordance with the logical flow or scientific sequence.
    3. Is the result of original research or ideas (This criteria distinguishes between reference books/monographs and textbooks).
    4. Has an ISBN.
    5. Thickness of at least 60 pages (according to UNESCO format).
    6. Standard size, 15 x 23 cm, with 1 space.
    7. Published by the publisher of the Scientific Body/Organization/Higher Education.

Similar to Reference Books, Monograph is a scientific writing that meets the requirements of a complete scientific work, including formulation of problems, problem solving methodologies, and conclusions. However, there are some differences between the two types, namely:

    1. A monograph book is a publication that is not a complete serial publication in one volume or a predetermined number of volumes.
    2. It contains one topic or several interrelated topics in one field of science.
    3. The content of the book is in accordance with the competence of the author’s field of science.
    4. The content is not taken from a dissertation or thesis.
    5. Can be searched online (for example published on the university website).
    6. Usually written by one person.
    7. Has an ISBN.
    8. Thickness of at least 60 pages (according to UNESCO format).
    9. Standard size, 15 x 23 cm, with 1 space.
    10. Published by the publisher of the Scientific Body/Organization/Higher Education.
